(Saguinus oedipus)

The cotton-top tamarin is a primate endemic to Colombia and one of the most endangered species in the world. It inhabits humid and dry tropical forests in northwestern Colombia. This small monkey measures between 20 and 25 cm, with a tail of 30–40 cm, and weighs around 500 g.

The cotton-top tamarin is easily recognized by its mane of white hair around the head. It is omnivorous, feeding on fruits, insects, nectar, and small vertebrates. It lives in family groups of up to 15 individuals, showing cooperative behavior in caring for the young.

Currently, the cotton-top tamarin is critically endangered due to habitat loss and illegal wildlife trafficking.
